1 . IF you don`t attempt to get over your doubts and fears, you`ll never discover howwonderful it is to live without them （不尝试打消疑问和恐惧 怎能知道无忧无虑地生活是多么的精彩．）

2 . 一篇中文讲稿常会有许多成语引语。听众则常会为演讲者引经据典而深感他知识渊博，惊讶他词藻华丽。在英美人的眼里，他们并不赞赏多用成语谚语等，因为他们一方面觉得这些用多了成了陈词滥调，毫无新意，另一方面演讲者为什么不能用自己的话摆事实讲道理而要鹦鹉学舌似的借别人的话说自己的理呢？在造句上英文演讲善用比喻联想。例如马丁·路德·金在他著名的演说中曾讲道：“当这个国家的创建者写下堂皇的宪法和独立宣言文句时，他们是在开一张期票，每个美国人都要继承。这张期票是不仅对白人而且包括黑人的所有人的承诺，所有人都有不可剥夺的生存自由和追求幸福的权利。”他从宪法宣言这样政治领域的东西联想到经济领域的期票，非常接近美国人民的生活。而且在听众的脑海里会立刻浮现出期票的影子，有了画面的动感。这样的生动形象的比喻即使在演讲过后还能给人以回味。再如他又说：“我有一个梦想，有一天在佐治亚州的红土小丘上，从前奴隶与地主的子孙们能够一起围坐在友爱的桌旁。”这时听众的脑海里不可能不出现一幅彩色的美好画面。多少天甚至多少年过去了，演讲的大部分内容都会被淡忘，尤其是口号之类忘得最快，唯独那些生动的画面包容着演讲的“灵魂”会永远留在人们的脑海里，达到持久的效果。
